True watch lovers need to take a close look at this brand! I don't think there is a more rugged watch out there for the price. The guy who started the company is a former professional surfer and his watches are built to withstand the extraordinary demands of this sport.
I purchased this watch as a gift to myself last Christmas to replace a 20 year-old Seiko whose stem could no longer withstand the constant time changes associated with business travel. It arrive prior to the estimated delivery date and was expertly packaged and encased in a very distinctive presentation "box".
This is my everyday watch and I'm known to be rather rough on my watches. To date, there are only a few minor scratches on the bracelet to report. Perhaps more importantly, I continue to get a kick out of it every time I check the time. It is a large, very heavy watch, yet comfortable. The icing on the cake - you don't see these watches on every other wrist. In short, I love this watch!
Expectations: Blown Away! February 9, 2010 Daniel R. Hansen (Wisconsin) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I haven't worn a watch for two decades. I love precision tools and found that any watch I bought or tried on in my budget range was inferior to my expectations. The prime factor that motivated my decision to purchase this watch was the manufacturer narrative featuring exceptional technical photos of the watch. With the security of ordering through Amazon Prime I felt there was no reason not to order it and try it on. This watch is so comfortable to wear that twice in the several days I have owned it I have worn it to sleep and not realized it until I was in the shower the next morning. That comfort comes from precision forged and machined parts which are ergonomical by design and in performance. The crystal is made of mineral, not glass or plastic. The face is like artwork, hell the whole watch is a piece of art.
I love the chronograph. I wont have to carry a stopwatch or wear one around my neck to do simple timing checks.
Buying one of these watches may end up being the equivillant to having bought a TAG-Hauer in their first decade of production. I suspect this will be an heirloom. Of course it will be a well worn heirloom, but it will still be a perfect timepiece.
Unique Watch February 17, 2010 Richard L. Haley Normally I don't do reviews, but since this watch was dumped on by a prior review here goes. This is a big and heavy watch but because the top is curved and smaller than the base, the visual weight of the watch is minimized. This allows the case to carry a lot of design without being gaudy and not look like a clown watch. I have ten other watches all of them are different, but this watch is unique not just because of the dial but also the casework. The watch high quality from top to finish.
P.S. I work for Wal-Mart not Reactor but if Reactor wants to give me another watch I'll gladly take it.
Very solid build, Looks good! March 2, 2010 S. Jacobs Weird stuff going on in the reviews for this watch. A couple reviews that look potentially bogus (i.e., written by or on behalf of Reactor) and then another one from "Valdemar" that seems unduly harsh (if you look at Valdemar's other reviews, you'll see that he doesn't like anything very much -- or at least doesn't review things he does like). Anyway, I tend to rely on reviews so I try to provide reviews as well. I have a lot of watches, none of them crazy expensive but across the price spectrum from Timex/Casio on the low end to Tag Heuer, Baume Mercier and Cartier on the high end and everywhere in between. This is a very nice looking watch (the color of the face might not work for everyone but that's why I picked it in the first place). It also appears to be extremely well made and solid with excellent fit and finish across the board. I can't really think of a good brand comparison because Reactor's aesthetic seems somewhat similar to Invicta or Nautica or Nixon but the apparent quality of this Reactor watch is so far above those brands (at least the examples of those brands that I've seen and own)that it isn't really a good comparison. I use the term "apparent quality" because I've only had this watch a few weeks so I suppose it's possible it will fall apart and/or stop working but it definitely does not feel or look like that is going to happen. Style-wise, this is a large-ish watch but not freakishly so. It's a little bigger across the face, a little thicker and a fair amount heavier (in a good way, as far as I am concerned) than my Tag Heuer chronograph (which they don't make anymore but looks most like this: TAG Heuer Men's Link Automatic Chronograph Day-Date Watch #CJF211A.BA0594 ). The crystal has a nice curve to it and the brushed aluminum finish is very well done on the case and on the nice looking, solid feeling bracelet. Bottom line for me is that I love the look of it and it seems incredibly well made for a watch in this price range. I will buy this brand again. Go ahead and check my other reviews. I have nothing to do with this Company.
fantastic watch March 4, 2010 Michael B. Sherman (san diego,ca) This watch has exceeded all my expectations,it as fairly heavy but thats because its built like a tank it is well crafted well machined and very comfortable.I have not worn a watch in a while but cant take this one off,had a concern called company and got a fantastic helping employee who walked me through the whole setting of the watch, and explained how to screw down crown correctly as i figured it was user error lol,got it on deal of the day for 99.00 was the icing on the cake, well worth the full price though,oh yeah i am definenately not an employee of the company but i am a fan now....
